Reflections On Easter As Christian Faithful Celebrate And Tinubu’s Message Of Hope

Date:

It is another Easter again! A momentous occasion when the Christian faithful celebrate the death and resurrection of Jesus Christ.

We, in AljazirahNIGERIA celebrate the Christian faithful for yet another milestone and wished that the spiritual import of the event is not lost. It is hoped that the good tidings that Easter embodies would radiate through the season and beyond for the faithful.

To underscore the significance of the occasion President Bola Ahmed Tinubu sent in a usual message to mark the event as he urged Nigerians to remain hopeful, united, and resilient as the country navigates through economic and security challenges. He assured citizens of better days ahead.

It is gratifying that he did not fail to appreciate the enormity of challenges confronting the country.

As a global event, Tinubu also extended his message to Christians around the world in commemorating the crucifixion and resurrection of Jesus Christ.

We amplify his calls for the faithful to reflect on the enduring values of sacrifice, redemption, love, and hope embodied in the occasion.

“Just as Christ triumphed over death, so too shall our country triumph over every challenges we face. The present moment may be cloudy, but it will usher in a glorious day”, Tinubu assured.

Interestingly the President expressed sadness over the loss of lives in parts of the country and reaffirmed his administration’s commitment to restoring peace and security.

It is of note that Tinubu acknowledges the enormity of the nation’s security challenges as we affirm that his concern is not misplaced. The killings and related issues of insecurity have indeed assumed a frightening dimension. On that note, his assurance that he has given clear directives to the Armed Forces and relevant agencies to act decisively and swiftly should be reinforced, towards an enduring peaceful reign. It should not be the usual assurances that are not backed by critical responses against the usual rhetorics that have been the refrain over time.

Although, the President commended the courage of the security personnel for their efforts in stemming the tide of insecurity ravaging the country, we are of the position that his optimism that Nigeria was making progress in the fight against insecurity is subjective given the resurgence of kidnappings, killings and sundry challenges across the country, a situation that appears to be overwhelming security agencies.

Benue and Plateau states have been in the news for the odious reason of wanton killings and scathing displacement of communities.

Borno State Governor, Babagana Zulum, recently, launched what appears a biting remarks that the security agencies are not doing enough to wade off the marauding Boko Haram terrorists that have ‘sacked’ parts of the state despite the presence of the military. Although, the Federal Government and its agents have debunked Zulum’s position, many Nigerians maintain that his remarks may have some elements of truth.

On the economy, the President acknowledged the hardship many citizens are experiencing, but highlighted that early signs of recovery were beginning to show.

In a show of global solidarity, Tinubu also used the opportunity to extend well wishes to Pope Francis, who recently recovered from illness saying “We pray that his renewed strength continues to inspire his leadership and service to humanity”.

The President’s message which was concluded with a call for national unity and faith in Nigeria’s future would be in vain if the right steps are not taken to ameliorate the pains of long suffering Nigerians who have been known for their resilience despite the very hard times they are passing through.

It is remarkable that the President is enthusiastic that a brighter future which would not be long in coming.

In this vein, we appeal to all and sundry to support the federal government with a to achieving the bright prospects being envisaged as Nigerians are yearning for a change.

Wishing all a blissful Easter season!
