Engr Olufunsho Olusesan Adebiyi has assumed office as a new Permanent Secretary, PS, at the Federal Ministry of Works.

According to a statement signed by Mohammed Ahmed, the Director, Press and Public Relations in the Ministry, Adeniyi took over from Yakubu Adams Kofarmata during a brief handover ceremony on Tuesday in Abuja.

While addressing management and staff, the outgoing PS commended them for working with him, harmoniously, appealing that they extend the same to his successor to enable him to succeed in his new assignment.

“I beg of you, extend the same hands of cooperation, support and comradeship to him and I am sure you will never regret it”, Kofamata pleaded.

In his acceptance speech, the incoming Permanent Secretary applauded his predecessor for what he described as his excellent track record while is office, noting that many of the ministry’s staff had learnt a lot from working with him.

Soliciting more dedication and cooperation from the staff, Adebiyi noted that the challenges facing the ministry and the country at large are enormous, stressing that they could only be overcome when all hands are on deck.

“I want to assure you that I will do my best by the grace of God. The challenges are enormous before us and I am sure that we would overcome them, together”, he noted.

He said one of the greatest challenges being faced by the ministry is the allegation of lopsidedness in the geopolitical spread of projects, whereby one region or the other, adding that with God, and seamless cooperation among the workers, the issues would be resolved.

“I want to appeal to all of us to ensure that we strive toward delivering on the mandate of Mr. President to provide critical road infrastructure, in line with the Renewed Hope Agenda”, the new PS said.

Engr Adebiyi was redeployed from the State House, while Kofarmata was to report to the Office of the Head of the Civil Service of the Federation, OHCSF, for reposting.
