From Segun Ayinde, Abeokuta
Protesting students of Moshood Abiola Polytechnic, MAPOLY, Abeokuta, Ogun State, on Wednesday, attacked the convoy of the Deputy Governor, Engr Noimot Salako-Oyedele, over increase in their school fees.
It was gathered that the deputy governor’s convoy was on its way to 35 Artillery Brigade, Alabama, Abeokuta, to represent Governor Dapo Abiodun at an event marking the 2025 Armed Forces Remembrance Day, before the angry students attacked.
On sighting her convoy, the students, who had been on the streets of Abeokuta protesting the 150 percent hike in their tuition fees, took the opportunity to vent their anger on the convoy after it ran into their demonstration, causing damage on her vehicle.
They used sticks and other dangerous weapons to attack her convoy despite the persuasion of security operatives.
This forced the convoy to immediately make a detour to her lodge for the protesting students to pass peacefully before she left for the function, while some of her security vehicles were damaged.
