Police sues church over land dispute

The Nigerian Police has sued the Seventh Days
Adventist Church Garki, Abuja, before an FCT High Court, Jabi, over a
dispute on a piece of land which the church was built.

The police who is acting on behalf of M.

L Mande, a company claimed that
the manner which the church used in acquiring the land was illegal and
inappropriate.

The police is particularly asking the following: Mr Moses Dungu,
Washington Nwachukwu, Macaulay CB and Mike Otuonye to explain to the court
the process they used in securing the land.

Other whose explanation was also needed in securing the land were Mr
George Isiguzo, Mrs Cecilia Onuiri, the Registered Trustees of the Seventh
Days Adventist Church and Mr Simon Ogenyi.

The police claimed that the defendants above allegedly forged documents of
the land in which the church was built.

The News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) gathered that Justice Peter Afem of the
FCT High Court, Maitama had in 2016 gave a judgment in favour of the church
declaring it as the original owner titled papers for the land.
