Police Nab Drug Dealers, Seize N3.5m Tramadol In Katsina

Katsina State Police Command has arrested two suspected drug dealers and recovered a large quantity of tramadol tablets worth N3,500,000, in a bid to curb substance abuse and illicit drug trafficking in the state.

The  Police Public Relations Officer, Abubakar Sadiq, in a statement made available to newsmen, said the successful arrest was based on credible intelligence.

“On March 20 at about 1600 hrs, based on credible intelligence, operatives of the command traced and arrested  Murtala Salisu, male, age 27, of Bare-bari village, Safana Local Government Area, in possession of 2,084 sachets of suspected tramadol tablets.

“During interrogation, the suspect confessed to having gotten the illicit drugs from one Rabe, m (not real name) from Nassarawa State.

“He  mentioned  Tanimu Abubakar, m, of Jibia Local Government Area of Katsina State, as his accomplice. The suspects were arrested and they both confessed to the commission of the offence. Investigation is ongoing.

“The Commissioner of Police,  Bello Shehu, reaffirmed the commitment of the command towards fighting substance abuse, illicit drug trafficking and other drug-related offences, while ensuring the safety and security of the  people.

“He  urged members of the public to continue to support the command with valuable and timely information to aid in the fight against all forms of crime and criminality,” the statement noted.
