From HASSAN JIRGI Maiduguri
Borno State Police Command has confirmed the arrest of two young men who specialise in stealing cars in Maiduguri, the state capital.
Spokesman of the command, ASP Nahum Daso, who disclosed this during the parade of the suspects at the weekend, said about six cars were recovered from them, describing the arrest as a significant stride in the fight against crime.
Daso added that the car suspects, Modu Ishaku (39) and Mari Paul (39) were apprehended, following a report by Musa Abubakar on September 9 that his Toyota Corolla car had been stolen from his residence.
According to him, the Police Crack Squad acted swiftly upon receiving the complaint, leading to the arrest of Paul and the recovery of the stolen vehicle.
“Investigations revealed Paul’s involvement in car theft and his usual sale of the stolen vehicles to Ishaku,” Daso further revealed.
He also disclosed that the crack squad recovered six stolen vehicles taken from various locations in Maiduguri.
The police spokesman emphasised the command’s unwavering commitment to eliminate criminal activities and ensure public safety and security.
