Peruvian authorities have launched an investigation into the unauthorized release of pop star Shakira’s medical records following her recent hospitalization in Lima.
The Colombian singer was admitted to the Delgado Clinic on February 15, 2025, due to severe abdominal pain, leading to the postponement of her scheduled concert at the National Stadium on February 16. Shortly after her discharge, confidential details of her medical condition surfaced on social media, sparking public outrage and prompting official scrutiny.
The Superintendencia Nacional de Salud (SUSALUD), Peru’s national health service watchdog, has intervened.
In a statement, SUSALUD noted that the unauthorized dissemination of medical information could result in sanctions, including fines up to 1,605,000 soles (approximately $430,000).
The Delgado Clinic has initiated its own internal investigation, describing the incident as a “serious ethical breach” and pledging to hold those responsible accountable.
Despite the incident, Shakira resumed her “Las Mujeres Ya No Lloran” world tour, performing in Lima on February 17.
She expressed gratitude to her fans, stating, “Eternal thanks to my beautiful Peruvian audience!! So much love and care you’ve given me!!”
