It was heartbreak for Paris Olympics medal hopeful in women’s freestyle wrestling, Odunayo Adekuoroye as she lost to China’s Kexin Hong in the 57kg quarterfinal on Thursday.

Adekuoroye, rated World no 3, showed signs of hope after she dismantled Chaimaa Aouiss (Algeria) in Round of 16.

Adekuoroye, three times Commonwealth Champion won the bout by Victory by Injury.

In the quarter final, it was a close call as she lost by 8-10 points (Pin Fall).

A painful defeat for the Nigerian, as she now hopes to fight for a bronze medal if the Chinese makes it to the final for her to compete in the repechage.
