By Joel Ajayi

The Minister of Youth Development, Comrade Ayodele Olawande, has revealed that over 36,000 youths from within and outside Nigeria will participate in the National Youth CONFAB 2025, themed “From Challenges to Progress, From Problems to Solutions.”

This announcement came as the Federal Government officially flagged off the registration process and unveiled the website for the National Youth Conference 2025.

Speaking at a world press conference on Monday in Abuja, the Minister emphasized that the forthcoming conference will not be “just another talk show,” but a dynamic platform focused on actionable solutions and meaningful youth engagement in national development.

“This is more than just a conference,” Olawande said. “It is a call to action and a platform for us to listen, learn, and lead together.”

Anchored on a participatory and inclusive framework, Youth CONFAB 2025 is being championed by the administration of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, GCFR, and is expected to draw participants from every community, ward, state, and the diaspora.

“With over 70% of our population under the age of 35, Nigeria’s future is inextricably linked to the creativity, energy, and aspirations of its youth,” the Minister said.

He announced the launch of the official conference portal – https://nationalyouthconfab.gov.ng – where interested participants can register, contribute through virtual consultations, submit memoranda, and apply to become delegates. Registration will close on 30 June 2025 at 6:00 p.m.

Olawande also highlighted upcoming activities such as induction meetings, technical sessions, consultations, town halls, and stakeholder engagements that will shape the direction and content of the CONFAB.

“The National Youth CONFAB is a historic moment. It inspires hope and provides an opportunity for young people to reimagine a Nigeria that works for them. It is a chance to move from protest to policy, from problems to solutions, and from challenges to progress,” he said.

He reiterated that the event is a credible and transformative platform designed to empower young Nigerians to shape policy and participate meaningfully in nation-building.

Also speaking at the event, the Chairman of the National Planning Committee and Permanent Secretary, Mr. Olubunmi Olusanya, underscored the importance of the occasion.

“It is with immense joy and gratitude that I welcome you all to this momentous occasion – the official launch of the National Youth Conference 2025 portal, marking the formal commencement of this landmark national youth gathering,” he said.

He described the CONFAB not just as an event, but as a strategic platform to amplify the voices, dreams, and innovative ideas of young Nigerians across the country.

According to Olusanya, the newly launched portal is more than a website – it is a digital gateway that will enable seamless delegate registration, facilitate virtual consultations, and serve as the central hub for conference updates and interactions.

“By unveiling this gateway, we are opening the door to nationwide participation, collaboration, and bold ideas that will shape the future of our country,” he added.

The conference will feature a phased structure, beginning with diaspora virtual engagements, grassroots consultations across the 360 federal constituencies, zonal consolidation meetings across the six geopolitical zones, and culminating in a national conference in Abuja. There, youth-driven policy recommendations will be developed and presented to top government officials.

CONFAB 2025 will focus on six core thematic areas:  Governance and Leadership, Economic Transformation and Job Creation, Education and Future Skills, Technology and Digital Innovation, Climate Change and Energy Transition

and Social Inclusion and Security.

Both the Minister and the Planning Committee Chairman called on students, creatives, entrepreneurs, artisans, professionals, and young Nigerians in the diaspora to seize this opportunity and make the 2025 Youth CONFAB a defining moment in the country’s history.
