From Richard Akintade, Osogbo
Osun Masterminds yesterday commended the administration of Governor Ademola Adeleke for embarking on various recruitment exercises towards the reduction of unemployment issue in the state.
The Executive Director of the group, Prof. Wasiu Oyedokun-Alli, made this commendation while fielding questions from journalists at their monthly press briefing held in Osogbo.
Prof Oyedokun-Alli said it is imperative for the group to commend Governor Adeleke for extending love towards the development of entire youths in the state which is part of his campaign promises to the people.
According to him, “We commend Governor Ademola Adeleke’s administration for a carefully planned reduction of youths unemployment in the State through recruitment of Amotekun Corps and the commencement of Imole Youth Corps.
“The plans to recruit into both organisations will not just provide short to long term empowerment for successful candidates, but it will also serve as a long term means of human capacity development in our State.
“Our vast population of young unemployed persons has already become a thing of worry for most concerned stakeholders in our society.
“Such massive recruitment is thus a welcome development”.
The Osun Masterminds used the medium to call on Governor Adeleke’s led administration to ensure that the processes of recruitment into both organizations are free, and fair to all.
The NGO said, “We have received reports from some quarters that successful candidates being contacted for the Imole Youth Corps are largely members of the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, this is not acceptable and must be checked immediately.
“We also must make it known that there are fears in some quarters that recruitment into both organizations will favour some towns and villages more than the others, due to the presence of key government officials in such towns and villages.
“We strongly advise the government to avoid these pitfalls as it may affect every sincere effort that has been put into the recruitment process”, the Osun Masterminds concluded.
