Ortom To Mothers: Prevail On Your Children To Shun Violence

Benue State Governor Samuel Ortom has charged women in the state to prevail on their children to shun violence as well as other tendencies enemical to progress and development of their areas and the entire state.

The Governor who gave the charge when he played host to an expanded EXCO of Zone A  Food Sellers Association whose membership is drawn across the seven Local Government Areas of the Benue North East Senatorial district, who paid him a solidarity visit at Government House Makurdi, noted that as mother’s it was incumbent on them to inculcate in their children peaceful and moral values for them to avoid crisis, arguing that women and children are worse hit during crisis.

The Governor further told the women  that his administration was ready to partner with any one especially the youths, who are willing to channel their energies to productive ventures to push the development programmes of Government already on course, but added that Government would go after criminal elements who insist to make the state ungovernable.

He expressed appreciation to the women for their show of solidarity, acknowledging that though the group was non political, they as citizens of the state were bound to participate in the forth coming general elections to choose some body to succeed him, appealing that they should vote the People’s Democratic Party, PDP, Governorship candidate Mr Titus Uba as the next Governor of the state to continue with his programmes.

He assured the women that his administration would continue to take necessary steps to end youth restiveness and to as well ensure the return of peace in all troubled areas,for those currently in IDPs camp to return to their homes.

In a speech leader of the group Mrs Esther Dam- Ayali expressed appreciation to the governor for granting them audience and commended the Governor for his doggedness in fighting injustice and to ensure that peace return to the state, especially in Sankera axis of Zone A.

He also lauded the governor’s efforts in caring for the IDPs despite slime resources available to Government,construction of rural roads across the state as well as development of general infrastructure, especially the renovation and provision of desks and chairs to all public schools across the state.

The women also expressed appreciation to the governor for giving many appointments to son’s and daughters of the area in his administration, assuring the Governor of their support to enable him end his administration in a high spirit.
