Benue State governor, Samuel Ortom has advised his Taraba State counterpart, Darius Ishaku to continue to build bridges of understanding among leaders of the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, ahead of the next year’s general elections.

Ortom, who gave the advice in a message to his Taraba counterpart on his 68th birthday, commended the celebrant for always standing firm with his people and his unshakable support for the PDP inspite of pressure and the hostile attitude of the rival political party, especially in the North-East.

The governor in a statement signed by his Chief Press Secretary, Mr Nathaniel Ikyur in Makurdi, at the weekend, equally praised Ishaku for his relentless efforts in promoting unity and peaceful coexistence, especially among the different ethnic nationalities and religious groups living in the state.

He pointed out that Benue and Taraba States have many things in common, arguing that such similarities could be harnessed for social and economic benefits.

The governor, who said effective collaboration between the two states is needed for the greater good of citizens, assured Mr Ishaku that his administration would continue to ensure peaceful coexistence among the people to usher in development.

Similarly, the Delta State governor, Dr Ifeanyi Okowa sent a warm felicitation to Ishaku on his 68th birthday anniversary.

Okowa in a statement by his Chief Press Secretary, Mr Olisa Ifeajika, yesterday in Asaba, said Ishaku had marvellous contributions to the development of Taraba and Nigeria as a successful urban planner, architect and politician.

He lauded the Taraba governor for his political and administrative sagacity which he brought to bear in his responsibility as minister of Niger Delta affairs and as governor.

Okowa noted that Ishaku’s trajectory of excellent leadership culminated in his election as governor of his state for two terms.

“I am pleased to join your family, political associates and other well-wishers in thanking God for blessing you with the strength and wisdom to live a fulfilling life of honesty and commitment to the well-being of Taraba people.

“It is our prayer that God will continue to protect and grant you good health to render more services to mankind,” he stated.
