From Henry Ibya, Makurdi
Immediate past governor of Benue State, Dr Samuel Ortom has cancelled his birthday celebration in solidarity with victims of the recent attacks and killings in the state.
Ortom, in a statement Thursday in Makurdi by his media aide, Terver Akase, expressed appreciation for the goodwill messages and prayers he received on his 64th birthday.
According to the former governor, instead of celebrating, he chose to use the occasion to demonstrate solidarity with the victims and their families who have suffered greatly from the attacks.
He also extended sympathy to the affected families and urged the people of Benue to continue praying fervently for the victims.
He called on everyone to seek divine intervention to end the carnage and restore peace and security to the state and other parts of the country.
Ortom equally enjoined the people to pray for President Bola Tinubu, Governor Hyacinth Alia and Senator George Akume, wishing them wisdom, strength and divine guidance to confront the security challenges.
He promised to always remain grateful to God Almighty for his mercy, good health and blessings he had enjoyed over the past 64 years, even as he reaffirmed his commitment to the service of God and humanity in the years ahead.
