FROM IKHILI EBALU, BENIN CITY
Edo State governor, Monday Okpebholo has restored to a former governor of Delta State, James Ibori, a parcel of land situated at the Government Reservation Area of Benin City, whose Certificate of Occupancy, C of O, was revoked by the immediate past governor, Godwin Obaseki.
The said land was subsequently reallocated to a chieftain of the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, Matthew Iduoriyekemwen by Obaseki.
Governor Okpebholo also restored to Captain Nogie Megisson, a parcel of land whose certificate of occupancy was also revoked by the former governor.
Commissioner for Information and Communications, Paul Ohonbamu said Governor Okpebholo believed that Obaseki’s action was maliciously and politically motivated.
According to Ohonbamu, “For the governor, such actions are repugnant to civility, natural justice, equity and good conscience and cannot be allowed to stand.
“There are several lands revoked by Obaseki that followed the same pattern and are altogether ineffectual and barren.
“It is Governor Okpebholo’s position that public goods cannot be sacrificed at the altar of political consideration.”
