FROM IKHILI EBALU, BENIN CITY
Edo State governor, Senator Monday Okpebholo has assured the state chapter of the National Union of Local Government Employees, NULGE, of his administration’s collaboration.
Okpebholo made the pledge when the NULGE President, Ambali Olatunji and his executive members paid him a visit at the Government House to introduce the new State Chairman of the union, Comrade Scot Aigbovia.
The governor, who expressed displeasure that two persons were laying claim to the leadership of NULGE, said he is happy that the issues had been resolved by the national executive.
“The activities of your union in the last few days have been a burden to my heart because it held an election in Edo State and two people were claiming to be winners.
“I requested that you come yourself to identify the truly elected leader of the union in the state. Now you have come to clear the grey areas and you brought Comrade Aigbovia as the leader of the union,” the governor told the union leaders.
In his address, Olatunji congratulated the governor on his victory in the September 21, 2024 governorship election, saying his administration will bring the dividends of democracy closer to Edo people.
On his part, Comrade Aigbovia said peace had returned to Edo State, following the conducive atmosphere provided by Governor Okpebholo who waded into the crisis and ensured its resolution.
He assured the governor that the union will work with his administration to ensure that the state is peaceful for development.
