House of Representatives Special Committee on oil Theft/Losses has pledged it readiness to recommend special intervention funds for the Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps,NSCDC, as well as the Nigeria Customs Service, NCS, to enable the two establishment perform optimally.
The Chairman of the Committee, Hon Alhasan Ado Doguwa who stated this yesterday during a special session/hearing
on the Utilization of Special Intervention Funds to Combat Crude Oil Theft across the country further expressed displeasure over lack of support to the NSCDC to carry out it constitutional mandates.
It would be recalled that the Special Committee on Oil Theft/Losses was inaugurated on October 30, 2023 by the Speaker, Hon Tajudden Abbas, pursuant to section 62 of the Federal Republic of Nigeria.
According to Hon Doguwa, the NSCDC had crucial role of protecting the country critical assets and infrastructures across Nigeria.
Earlier in his his welcome address, the Chairman had also promised to make sure that the NSCDC is fully carried along in the war against Oil Theft and Losses in Nigeria.
He equally used the opportunity to appeal most especially to the security agencies present during the meeting to speak up and share their challenges inorder for the Committee to make an inform decisions that will help the country.
The lawmaker also spoke on the essence of the meeting noting that such has provided stakeholders with vital to enable them deliver on their mandates.
“We commend the the Federal Government efforts in the protection of the oil and gas pipelines, flow stations, export terminals among others and the procurement, deployment of technologies in a bid to stem the monumental theft and losses of the nation’s hydrocarbon resources”, he explained.
He used the opportunity to query why the NNPCL, the CBN among others should not release the Special Intervention Fund to the NSCDC to enable it perform effectively.
In his address during the event, the Commandant General,CG, Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps,NSCDC, represented by Deputy Commandant General,
Philip Ayuba informed that the core mandate of the Corps is to protect critical national asset and infrastructure across the country.
The Commandant General further informed that the Corps has not been able to access the special intervention fund from any agencies to fully carry out its mandates
Reacting to question, the NSCDC lamented that the NNPCL has not allow them to operate effectively as well as deliver on their mandates.
He alleged that his establishment has been sidelined from contributing to fulfill their core mandate in the country.
He expressed displeasure over NNPCl attitude over their personnel across the country.
Said that NNPCL and CBN including the Office of the Accountant General of the Federation have refused to incorporate them in the special intervention fund in the country.

NSCDC said, the Corps has not received any fund from the CBN and the NNPCl.
Said his CG has over time arrange deliberately engage in a coordinated
strategies to ensure effective protection of all critical assets across the country.
In his presentation, the Comptroller, Nigeria Customs Service, NCS, who was represented at the event by Oloyede Adekunle; Assistant Comptroller Customs, ACC, said they have not been receiving help from any establishment to carry out their assignment.
