Minister of State for Petroleum Resources (Oil), Senator Heineken Lokpobiri has emphasised the need to improve support for local investors in Nigeria’s oil sector.
The minister said this in a statement issued by his Special Assistant on Media and Communication, Nneamaka Okafor, during #AEW2024 in Cape Town, South Africa.
Lokpobiri disclosed that his discussions with other stakeholders in the oil sector centred on boosting economic growth and securing sustainable funding for national development initiatives.
The statement said: “On the sidelines of #AEW2024 in Cape Town, I had a productive meeting with Professor Benedict Oramah of Afrexim Bank, the financial partner with APPO on Africa Energy Bank project of which Nigeria is hosting the headquarters.
“Our discussion centered on advancing support for local investors in Nigeria’s oil sector, as a critical step toward boosting economic growth and securing more sustainable funding avenues for our national development initiatives.
“With Africa collectively moving in this direction, there is tremendous opportunity for growth, especially as we foster an investor-friendly environment supported by favorable policies.
“This collaborative approach can unlock unprecedented potentials and I urge investors, both in the oil sector and across other industries, to actively participate in this transformation.”
