National Youth Service Corps, NYSC, has sworn in 2,069 corps members of the 2023 Batch ‘B’ Stream II deployed to Nasarawa State.
Governor Abdullahi Sule declared the three weeks orientation course open at the swearing in ceremony at Magaji Dan-Yamusa NYSC Permanent Orientation Camp in Keffi Local Government Area, yesterday.
Sule represented by the Commissioner for Youths and Sports, Jaafaru Ango, congratulated the corps members on the successful completion of their academic pursuit which qualified them for national service.
He assured them of his administration’s statutory responsibility to their welfare, security and general well-being.
“You have taken the solemn oath of allegiance, I urge you to reflect on the weight of the responsibilities that come with NYSC.
“My dear corps members, the orientation course and the bylaws of the scheme serve as guiding principals throughout the service year. Therefore, I implore you to pay meticulous attention to their content as provided in the framework for a successful and impactful service year”.
He welcomed the newly posted State Coordinator, Mrs Salamatu Mohammed, assuring her of a good and cordial working relationship towards the success of the scheme in the state.
“I want to also use this opportunity to wish your predecessor, Alhaji Jikamshi whom we had a good working relationship with, success in his future endeavors. Similarly, I want to assure you of the state government’s readiness under the leadership of Engineer Abdullah Sule to also accord you positive collaboration”, Ango stated.
Speaking earlier, Mrs Mohammed urged the corps members to adhere to all camp rules and respect constituted authority always, advising them to participate actively in all activities and seize the opportunity for personal and collective development.
“My dear corps members, I hereby emphasize the importance of adhering to camp rules, respect constituted authorities and actively participate in all activities. Your cooperation is crucial in maintaining order and harmony essential for a successful orientation experience”, Mrs Mohammed stated.
She expressed gratitude to Governor Sule, their host, Kefffi Local Government Chairman, Mohammed Shehu and other stakeholders for their unwavering support to the scheme.
“To the state and to our host, Keffi Local Government chairman, I express my gratitude for your unwavering support. Your commitment has played a role in creating a conducive environment for the success of NYSC in Nasarawa State. We look forward to further collaboration in the spirit of nation building”.
