NYSC DG Tasks Corps Members’ Employers On Welfare

The NYSC Director General, Brig Gen Shuaibu Ibrahim, has flagged-off the NYSC FCT 2021 Edition of the Corps Employers Workshop in Abuja on Wednesday, November 17.

The DG who was represented by the Director Information and Communication Technology, Mrs Christy Uba, said the workshop is a platform aimed at maximizing the effectiveness of the lofty ideals of the NYSC towards the much needed development of Nigeria.

 

Speaking further, the Director General tasked the corps employers to improve on the welfare of corps members and the implementation of their statutory responsibilities towards the corps members and the NYSC.

The workshop, with the theme ‘Optimizing the NYSC/ Corps Employers Partnership for National Development in the context of the New Normal’, harped on the intervention of the Scheme especially at the heat of the pandemic when corps members provided health services as well as the provision of other Non- pharmaceutical preventive items to curb the spread of the virus.

The Director General called on the corps employers to ensure the seamless operations of the Scheme in their domains. They were further urged to place premium on the welfare needs and security of corps members while urging them to shun the negative acts of rejection and aiding and abetting corps members to evade service.

The Chairman, Abuja Municipal Area Council (AMAC), Hon. Abdullahi Adamu Candido, who was represented by Hajiya Rahmat Abdullahi;  urged Corps Employers to work towards closing the identified gaps as regards corps welfare. He further pledged to continue to improve on ensuring the achievements of the Scheme in the FCT.

The NYSC FCT Coordinator, Alhaji Abdul Suleman, while presenting the vote of thanks, expressed his appreciation of the robust discussions during the business sessions as well as his gratitude for the corps employers presence.

The high point of the occasion was the presentation of Award of Excellence  to outstanding Corps Employers.
