The Director-General (D-G) of the Nigerian Technical Aid Corps (NTAC), Dr Yusuf Yakub on Wednesday inaugurated a staff multipurpose cooperative of the agency to address housing and other challenges.
The inauguration was held at the NTAC Headquarters in Abuja and included the installation of newly elected executive members.
The D-G said that the cooperative society would address housing and other welfare needs of the staff members.
He said that the initiative aligned with President Bola Tinubu’s agenda of ensuring that civil servants and Nigerians, in general, enjoyed incentives that would make life meaningful for all.
“It is through cooperatives of this kind that some of these objectives can be achieved, ” he said.
He said that the corps also had a welfare package for staff, like the mortgage, where civil servants and other workers can be able to acquire houses through installment payments.
The newly elected Chairman of the multipurpose cooperative society, Mr Ogbonna Martin, commended the D-G and the Federal Government for the initiative that would help to meet the needs of the agency’s staff.
“I extend my humble gratitude to you all for the privilege and the honour that you have bestowed on the members of our executive today.
“The executive is starting on a clean slate on what ought to have begun many years ago.
“We intend to use our knowledge of staff needs to deliver results for the benefit of us all,’’ he said.
