North West Governors Unite To Tackle Security Challenges

Governors from the North West region have harped on unity and synergy to tackle the security challenges bedeviling the region.

The Deputy Governor of Kebbi State, Senator Umar Abubakar Tafida, represented Governor Nasir Edris of Kebbi State at the inaugural North West Peace and Security Summit held in Katsina. The summit, hosted at the Banquet Hall of the Government House in Katsina, saw the participation of the Governors of the North West region, including the host Governor of Katsina State, Malam Umar Dikko Radda.

With a focus on peace-building and security enhancement in the North West region, the summit brought together key stakeholders, government officials, security agencies, and community leaders to deliberate on strategies for addressing security challenges and promoting peace and stability in the region.

Senator Umar Abubakar Tafida, representing Governor Idris of Kebbi State, emphasized the importance of collaborative efforts among states to tackle security threats, address communal conflicts, and enhance the overall safety and well-being of residents. He highlighted the need for proactive measures, intelligence-led operations, and community engagement initiatives to effectively combat crime and insecurity in the region.

The summit provided a platform for governors to exchange ideas, share best practices, and forge partnerships aimed at fostering peace, security, and development in the North West. Issues such as insurgency, banditry, cattle rustling, and other security concerns were discussed, with a focus on identifying sustainable solutions and mobilizing resources for security operations.

Governor Malam Umar Dikko Radda of Katsina State commended the collective commitment of North West states to enhancing peace and security collaboration, stressing the importance of synergy in combating emerging security threats and protecting the region’s inhabitants.

As the North West Peace and Security Summit continues, stakeholders are optimistic that the discussions and agreements reached will translate into concrete actions and initiatives that will strengthen the security architecture of the region and create a conducive environment for sustainable development and prosperity.
