Founder of  Home for the Needy Internally displaced Persons, IDP, in Uhogua Ovia South East Local Government Area of Edo State, Pastor Solomon Folorunsho,  said over 100 undergraduates being sponsored by the home have dropped out of school over non-payment of tuition fees.

The operators of the camp  called on members of the public and Governor Monday Okpebholo to come to their rescue, adding that the level of hardship and hunger currently being experienced  by  over 6000 residents of the camp is unprecedented.

He averred that the camp needs urgent assistance from people to enable it take care of some urgent needs of the children.

“We are really facing tough times, the population in the camp is increasing on a daily basis, our students  enter higher institutions yearly. As we speak,  over 100 undergraduates  studying various courses  can no longer go for lectures because we have not been able to pay their tuition fees.

“Moreso, over 75 of our students   are supposed to enrol for JAMB last month, but we could not meet  the demand. Tensions, however, heightened after some of our undergraduates in a private university in Delta State were sent home last month due to non-payment of tuition  and other things.”

He  appealed  to Nigerians, the federal government, state government, Christian bodies and other corporate organisations to help us, so that these students can return to lecture halls.”
