National Orientation Agency ,NOA, has called on Nigerians to imbibe core national values as provided in the National Values Charter of the agency.
The Director-General of NOA, Malam Lanre Issa-Onilu made the appeal on Monday in Abuja, at an event to celebrate his one year anniversary in office.
“The core values we are projecting are there in Chapter 2 of the 1999 Constitution as amended.
“What we have embarked upon in the last 365 days was to first and foremost, meet with different segment of the society to work with us and to come up with definition of who a real Nigerian is.
“We also understand that, it is not the job of the citizens to develop this country alone, but also the duty of the leaders and that is why we have the National Values Charter ,NVC.
“The NVC is an agreement between the country and the citizens; that is, what the country will do for its citizens and what the citizens will do for their country.
“The two sides must be committed for Nigeria to make progress”, he said.
The NOA boss explained that those in public offices are expected to fulfill the promises to the people on behalf of the country,
According to him, the implementation of the charter will begin immediately.
“In a couple of weeks, Nigerians will begin to see the establishment of some of these institutions of nurturing.
“We cannot achieve this without the support of President Bola Tinubu”, he said.
