Federal Capital Territory Administration, FCTA, has called on members of the public to disregard what it called a misleading and malicious voice note circulating in Hausa Language, claiming that students in FCT schools are being indoctrinated into a particular religion against their wish.

The FCTA Education Secretariat  stated this  in a statement made available to journalists by its Head of Information, Kabir Musa.

The secretariat said  after it carried out investigation on the content of the viral voice note, it was discovered that all the schools mentioned do not exist on any official map of the FCT.

It said the schools mentioned; Government Secondary School, Mararaba, Government Secondary School, Bakin Ado, Government Junior Secondary School Kurunduma and Aunty Alice School are all in neighbouring Nasarawa State.

The statement reads: “We wish to state that the claims in the said audio are false, baseless and deliberately misleading.

” Our investigation revealed that the areas and schools  mentioned in the voice note are not in the Federal Capital Territory. They do not exist on any official map of the FCT. Findings clearly show that these locations are situated in Mararaba, Nasarawa State, a neighboring state approximately 20 to 25 kilometers from Abuja City Centre.

” FCT Schools are strictly secular institutions where students of all faith (Christians and Muslims)co-exist peacefully.”

The FCTA insisted that in its schools, there is freedom of worship and  the right of every child to learn in an environment that is free of religious discrimination or compulsion is upheld at all times.

” Our teachers and school administrators are highly trained professionals who operate strictly within the bounds of professional ethics and codes of conduct. They are dedicated to nurturing students into disciplined and responsible citizens without bias or prejudice. Under the the focused and visionary leadership of the  Minister, Nyesom Wike, education in the FCT has been on the front burner,” the statement noted.

While urging members of the public to always rely  on verified information from official FCT Administration sources, it warned individuals or groups propagating such falsehoods against its schools or territory to either desist from such or be ready to face legal action.
