No Extension Of Academic Activities, UNIMAID Warns Yet-to-resume Students

The Director senate and academic matters, University of Maiduguri (UNIMAID) Filibus Yamta Mshelia,  has confirmed that the school management will not make any extension of its already circulated academic calendar.

The Director who gave the directives in a circular on Wednesday said the school management has observed that since the commencement of the second semester of the session on December 13, there are no signs that lectures are going on four weeks after resumption.

He advised students to make the most use of the remaining period of the ongoing second semester—of the 2020/2021 academic session.

According to him, the university management takes strong exception to the attitude of the students, many of whom are yet to resume and directed that all academic activities should be taken seriously because it will not be extending the semester.

“‘Provost, deans, head of departments and members of academic staff are called to ensure that lectures and other academic activities are concluded as scheduled”

This reporter learned that some of the departments in the university have started academic activities in December.

According to the school’s calendar, the session is to come to a close in March.

AljazirahNigeria, could be recall that on November 26, the university rounded off its first semester’s academic activities and went for two weeks holiday, to resume December 13, but many students are yet to resume—now being the second week of January.
