Nigerian Athletes to participate in maiden African Ski Confederation championship in Morocco

Two Nigerian SKI athletes, Sayi Rosea and Olubunmi Florence Bright, have been invited to participate in the inaugural edition of the African Ski Confederation championship which will start next month, February in the city of Dakhla, Morocco.

In a letter of invitation sent and signed by the President of the African Ski Confederation (CAS), Mr Hicham Ait Ouarchikh, to the Nigerian athletes, it reads that “The African Ski Confederation is very pleased to invite you as a player to participate among us the 1st edition of the African championship in Roller-Skiing, which will be organized for the first time in the city of Dakhla (Morocco) from February 18-23, 2025.

“This competition will also see the participation of Roller-Skiing athletes from several African countries”

“This is a solidarity event bringing together many African athletes around the spirit of solidarity, and to create a new dynamic in the pearl of the South, known for it’s assets and tourist potential allowing it to become a privileged sports destination”

“Looking forward to your participation in this great event, please believe, our best sports greetings” it stated.

Speaking after receiving the letter of invitation from the African ruling body, Head of the Nigeria Ski Sports Association, Mr Olubunmi Gabriel expressed happiness that this event will expose the athletes that will be representing Nigeria, believing it will be a platform of development for the youths who are passionate and eager to make a name for themselves through sports.

Mr Olubunmi Gabriel will be the leader of the delegation that will lead 18 year old Sayi Rosea, and 14 year old Olubunmi in this first major outing for these lads.

The African Ski Confederation championship is expected to draw a total of 27 African countries in this maiden edition.

The championship which starts on the 18th is expected to run through to the 23rd of February 2025, in the City of Dakhla, Morocco.
