As the 67th Annual Grammy Awards in few hours (February 3), Nigerian musicians are making significant waves on the global stage, reflecting the country’s growing influence in the music industry.
Notably, Burna Boy, Tems, Asake and Wizkid, Yemi Alade, as well as Chris Brown’s record which features Davido and Lojay have secured nominations for Best African Music Performance, underscoring the international recognition of their talents.
Tems leads the Nigerian nominees with three nominations. With a nomination for Tems and Rema for the Best Global Music Album, category, both artistes aim to join Burna Boy who won the category in 2021.
The recognition of emerging talents like Tems and Asake have also garnered attention, earning nominations that showcase the dynamic range of Nigerian music today.
Their recognition alongside established artists such as Yemi Alade signifies a promising future for Nigeria’s music industry on the world stage.
