Niger State government has debunked speculations of a protest in Suleja yesterday and asked the people to go about their daily activities without fear.
It dismissed the report published by an online platform claiming that protests have commenced in Suleja along Abuja-Kaduna road in Niger State.
A statement from the Senior Special Adviser on Print Media to Governor Umar Bago, Aisha Wakaso assured residents that the report is unfounded and that no protest has taken place in the state.
Chairman of Suleja Local Government, Ishaku Naibi, also confirmed that no protest occurred in the area, adding that security reports from the area also corroborated the statement, indicating that there was no demonstration or street protest.
Government, however, called on law-abiding citizens to continue their legitimate business without fear of harassment or intimidation, stressing that it remains committed to ensuring the safety and well-being of all residents.
The statement added that the administration will continue to prioritise initiatives that will alleviate economic challenges and improve the quality of life of the people.
Wakaso cautioned media outfits to report accurately and avoid attempts to incite unrest or create unnecessary fear among the populace.
She urged them to support government’s efforts to enhance peace and progress.
