Wife of the Niger State governor, Hajiya Fatima Bago has launched three days free medical health care in the 25 local government areas.
Speaking at the flag-off ceremony at the headquarters of Edati Local Government Area at the weekend, Mrs Bago said her office remains committed to providing free medical health care to the people, especially the less privileged.
The first phase of the free medical outreach and surgeries which commenced in Edati Local Government last Thursday is expected to run for three days.
The office of the first lady in collaboration with a non-governmental organisation, Graceland Healthcare Development Foundation Kaduna, extended generosity to the people.
The first lady lauded the foundation for the commitment to improve lives through healthcare services. According to her, healthcare should never be a luxury, but a necessity and the right of every individual.
“The good people of Edati community, this initiative is for you, please, take full advantage of it, encourage your family and friends to do the same, adding that health is one of the greatest gifts we can accomplish.”
Hajiya Bago explained that the medical outreach will provide free medical consultations, surgeries and 1,000 eye glasses will be given free of charge to those suffering from eye related ailments.
“This is an opportunity for people to live healthier lives. We are ensuring that no one is left behind, especially in matters as critical as health”.
She, however appreciated Governor Muhammad Bago for his support and relentless efforts in transforming the health sector.
Earlier, the Commissioner for Local Government, Hamidu Jantabo commended the wife of the governor for the initiative, adding that the programme will complement the landmark successes of Bago’s administration in the health sector.
The commissioner noted that the success of the exercise depends largely on the collective efforts of stakeholders.
