NGO Exploits Sports For Peace Conflict Resolution

Founder of Princess Sylvia Foundation for the Less Privileged, Princess Sylvia Sarki has said the organisation has found sports as means of promoting peace and checkmating conflict in communities.
Sarki stated this at a football match between the New Bwari and the Bwari areas of the Federal Capital Territory at the weekend.
Tagged ‘Reducing Conflict and Promoting Peace’ the founder said the event was meant to promote peace and harmony within and outside the Bwari, an area council in the FCT, Abuja.
According to her, the foundation has been in existence for the past six years and has done a lot within and outside Bwari community, “hence I decided this time around to organize one here in New Bwari for the indigenous communities.
“The foundation is known for helping the less privileged, hence this year 2023 is planned to carry everybody along, not only for the less privileged; because this year 2023 is a year of breakthrough, progress and a year of stepping forward. I therefore beg everybody to endeavour to accommodate and tolerate one another.
“We must embrace love and peace, despite our religion, tribe and diversity we are related to one another, hence we have just one creator. Today message we must take home is that we need to live in love and peace the same word we are passing to the world today because we cannot do without one another.
The programme is focusing mainly on youths because youths and women are mainly the target for perpetrating evils by politicians. Youth should unite and love themselves.
Bwari and New Bwari are one and must do things in common and in peace.”
The programme also meant to bid a farewell to one of our trustees whom today is a month she left us to rest internity in person of Mrs. Sarki Sarah Amos, who happen to be my mother. She was the one that brought the idea of today’s event, unfortunately she did not live to witness the event.
Among those that supported Princess Sylvia Foundation for the peace programme include Young Ladies in Politics Forum, W.A.N.E.F (Building Relationship for Peace. ON (One Nigeria), ABEIG Budan Essient, MacArthur Foundation and many others.
