Senate has received a request from President Bola Tinubu for confirmation of appointments of seven ministerial-nominees announced in Abuja on Wednesday .
President Tinubu’s request was contained in a letter addressed to President of the Senate, Godswill Akpabio and read at the beginning of plenary yesterday.
The ministerial-nominees, as contained in the letter are Dr Nentawe Yilwatda as Minister of Humanitarian Affairs and Poverty Reduction; Muhammadu Maigari Dingyadi as Minister of Labour and Employment, and Bianca Odinaka Odumegwu-Ojukwu as Minister of State for Foreign Affairs.
Others are Dr Jumoke Oduwole , Minister of Industry , Trade and Development , Idi Muktar Maiha , Minister of Livestock Development ,
Rt Hon Yusuf Abdullahi Ata , Minister of State, Housing and Dr Suwaiba Said Ahmad , Minister of State, Education.
President Tinubu in the letter , sought for expeditious consideration of his request by the Senate.
Accordingly as announced by Akpabio, the Senate referred the presidential request to the Committee of the Whole for consideration .
” Distinguished colleagues , the presidential request is referred to the Committee of the Whole for consideration very soon ” , he said .
Since the request got to the Senate on its last day of sitting in the week , the red chamber may after getting the required documents on the nominees , commence their screening so as to expeditiously confirm the nominees to joined the Federal cabinet to contribute their quota in the actualisation of the President Bola Tinubu’s Renewed Hope Agenda.
Meanwhile, the former Minister of Women Affairs, who was the most vocal among the sacked Ministers had written an appreciation letter to the President, thanking him for finding her worthy to serve in his administration. Barr Uju Kennedy Ohanenye , you would recall was the only female APC Presidential Aspirant in the last general election but withdrew her contest in support of President Tinubu’s ambition.
