FROM IKHILI EBALU, BENIN CITY

Nigeria Correctional Service, NCoS, Edo State Command, yesterday, decorated 109 newly promoted officers with their new ranks.

In her address at the ceremony, the State Comptroller of Corrections, Philomena Emehinola said the promotions were a call to duty and charged the officers to be more hardworking and disciplined.

According to her, President Bola Tinubu has been benevolent to the service, particularly with the historic promotion of more than 12,000 personnel in 2024.

Emehinola, who was recently promoted Assistant Comptroller General, however, pacified those not captured in the new promotion, noting that their turn would come at God’s allotted time.

“Let us continue to move the service forward. Nobody else can do it. All of us have to brace up, be more disciplined and hardworking, in order to take the service to an enviable height,” she said.

The comptroller said eight of the officers were promoted to the rank of Deputy Controller and another eight as Assistant Controllers.

She noted that 12 were promoted to Chief Superintendents, 10 Superintendents, 32 Deputy Superintendents, 22 Assistant Superintendents I and 13 Assistant Superintendents III.

Responding on behalf of others, DC Smart Omonua commended the authorities of the service for the elevation, assuring that they would reciprocate the gesture.

AljazirahNigeria reports that the occasion was graced by senior officers of sister security agencies in the state.
