Nigerian Navy, NN, is planning to incorporate the amphibious battalion with the army and Nigerian Air Force, NAF, in the next simulation exercise.
The Flag Officer Commanding, FOC, Naval Doctrine Command, Rear Admiral Shehu Gombe said this yesterday during the 2024 Simulation of Amphibious Operation held at Tarkwa Bay, Lagos State.
Gombe said the exercise was a partnership between the French Navy and the Nigerian Navy, simulating a hostage taking situation and recovering them.
“We had the French Navy assets, both vehicles and their Special Boat Service, SBS, Army, with NN ships, SBS, and helicopters partaking in the exercise.
“The scenario ran very well, we were able to recover the hostages and also carry out medical evacuation and amphibious landing,” he said.
The FOC also said the amphibious battalion commander, NAF, CO 65 and their boat were present at the simulation exercise as observers.
“The Nigerian Army were also there as observers. When next we are carrying out a bigger simulation wherever they decide, we will incorporate them,” he said.
Gombe said exercises like this keeps troops battle ready should there be a real need for them to be called upon. (NAN)
