Edo State Police Command has arrested 19-year-old Timothy Dauda for allegedly shooting Alex Ezekiel to death in Akoko-Edo Local Government Area.
The incident happened at Onumu community in Akoko-Edo Local Government Area.
Police Public Relations Officer of the Command, Moses Yamu, who disclosed this in a statement made available to newsmen in Benin City, said the suspect was arrested by personnel at Igarra Division.
Yamu said the suspect was a self-acclaimed native doctor who specialises in preparing charms against guns and cutlasses.
He noted that the suspect after preparing the charms for Ezekiel tried to test the efficacy of the charms by shooting him.
According to him, Ezekiel, now deceased, went to the “native doctor” to get the charms prepared for him.
“After preparing the charms, the native doctor tried to test the efficacy of the charms by shooting the deceased with a gun.
“Unfortunately, he sustained fatal injuries, was rushed to Ifejola Hospital, Igarra where he was certified dead by a medical doctor,” the statement said.
The police spokesman added that the suspect will face prosecution as soon as investigation is concluded.
