Nasarawa: Multi-million Naira Skills Acquisition Center In Lafia To Start Functioning

The Multi-million Naira, Wing Commander Abdullahii Ibrahim Skills Acquisition Center initiated by the Nasarawa State government in Lafia the state’s capital would kick-start its operation by next month.

Already, the state government has entered into partnership with the Industrial Training Fund (ITF) to help it manage the center properly for good results.

The state commissioner for Science, Technology and Innovations Professor Mikail Umaru Gurku made the disclosure in an interview with AljazirahNigeria in Keffi during the Ground Breaking Ceremony of the permanent site for the NASENI Skills Development Center and North Central Science and Engineering Integrated Laboratory, Keffi on Monday.

He stated that the skills acquisitions center would begin with two programmes Welding as well as Information and Communication Technology (ICT) adding that other programmes are Carpentering, Motor Mechanics, Electrical Electronics, Tailoring Knitting and others would follow suite in gradual basis.

Gurku further stated that to make the administration effective the state government has already appointed an expert Mr. Daniel Ewuga to coordinate the center.

The commissioner who was full of praises to the governor of the state Engr. Abdullahii Sule for what he described as his great vision in establishing the center which he believed would at the end of the day train the youths to become self-reliance,job creators not job seekers.

” Infact,this vision of the state’s governor towards this gigantic project and programme must be commended as it would help in no small measures towards building our teeming youths to become useful members of the society by securing their future” he asserted.

He then appealed to the Youths to avail themselves with the opportunity by enrolling themselves into the center to acquire skills so as to earn their living and contribute to the development of the state and the country as a whole.

Speaking about the skill acquisition center established by NASENI in both Lafia the state capy and Keffi,he described the efforts as complimentary to the efforts of the state’s government in building a better society.
