Nasarawa: Gunmen Kidnap Kefffi LG Chairman, Kill Ordely

The Chairman of Keffi Local Government Area, in Nasarawa State, Honourable Mohammed Baba Shehu has been reported kidnapped along Gudi station in Akwanga Local Government Area of the state on Friday at evening.

AljazirahNigeria gathered that the police sergeant attached to the chairman, Alhassan Habeeb was shot dead on the spot as a result of exchange of fire between him and the kidnappers in attempt to defend the chairman.

The chairman who is a member of Keffi Old Boys Association, KOBA on Friday attended the association’s Annual General Meeting, AGM, where he gave a goodwill message and later left for another function at Lafia the state capital with some of his aides including the police officer, but, however ran into the gang of kidnappers at Gudi where he was kidnapped.

Our correspondent also gathered from the council’s deputy chairman, Hon. Vincent Anzaku, that negotiations have started with the unknown kidnappers about the ransom to be paid in order to secure the release of the chairman and his aide.

Meanwhile, the incident has thrown Keffi LGA and environs into confusion.

Deceased police officer was also a 400 level student of the Nasarawa State University Keffi, studying sociology, who would have graduated if not for the ASUU strike before his death.

He left behind his wife and a newly born baby.

Efforts to get in touched with the security agencies before going to press proved abortive.
