President, Nigerian Army Officers Wives Association, NAOWA, Mrs Mariya Lagbaja, has pledged to support the wives of soldiers to develop their skills and capacity to be self-reliant.
Lagbaja made the pledge at the Mind-set Reorientation Seminar, organised for members of the Nigerian Army Soldiers’ Wives Association, NASWA, by NAOWA yesterday in Abuja.
She said the mind-set programme was designed to impact the lives of the women through skills acquisition with a view to bring out the best in them.
According to her, it makes them discover who they are, and their skills, because so many of them are educated and talented with skills.
“This is something that will develop their skills, be productive and sustain themselves and their families.
“So, this programme is not just for NAOWA, it is also for NASWA to make sure that they are not left behind,’’ she said.
The NAOWA president expressed delight with the level of exposure and skills of the soldiers’ wives, adding that she was not disappointed.
According to her, some of them have skills that if they can get people to support their businesses, they will go far in life.
Facilitator of the seminar, Mrs Celina Onogwu, said some of the concerns raised by the women, especially about financing is understandable, emphasising that transformation begins with the mind.
Onogwu said the programme was aimed at providing valuable insights that would pave the way for positive changes in their lives and the society at large.
According to her, by focusing on how the mind works and how it can be renewed, we create the foundation for addressing and overcoming challenges effectively.
She expressed confidence that the session would help them understand the dynamics of their mindset and initiate a journey of mental transformation.
“When your mind is renewed, it becomes much easier to foster positive growth and achieve meaningful results,’’ she said. (NAN)
