Nigerian Air Force, NAF, component of Operation Hadin Kai, OPHK, has struck two terrorist strongholds in  Sambisa general area and Southern Tumbuns in Borno State.

Spokesman of the Nigerian Air Force, Air Commodore Ehimen Ejodame disclosed this in a statement in Maiduguri, yesterday.

He said the airstrikes conducted around April 15, followed confirmed intelligence of high-value terrorist commanders in the area where several structures, some equipped with solar panels, were identified as active terrorist hubs.

The statement  said the first strike was carried out at approximately 5:30am in Kollaram, a known stronghold of insurgents.

According to him, the strike followed intelligence reports, supported by surveillance footage which confirmed the presence of prime terrorist commanders in the area.

He said the Nigerian Air Force assets carried out a precision strike on the location, “eliminating several fighters and disabling key infrastructure.”

Ejodame added that a second precision strike followed at about 3:55pm at Arra in Sambisa in Northern Borno State.

According to the director, the strike was authorised after Intelligence Surveillance and Reconnaissance, ISR, missions had earlier detected clusters of terrorists and real-time visuals confirmed the significant presence.

The statement said the precision-guided munitions were employed, resulting in the effective destruction of targets and disruption of the group’s operational capabilities.

He reiterated that NAF remains committed to ensuring that no location within the country offers a safe haven to terrorists

Ejodame said these back-to-back missions are part of a sustained air campaign designed to erode terrorist capabilities, dismantle leadership structures and eliminate sanctuaries across Nigeria.
