Renowned educationist and executive director of Hope Jon International School, Abuja, Mrs Hope Ucheoma Nwaoga has expressed joy over her son’s outstanding Unified Tertiary Matriculation Examination, UTME, result.
Miss Jennifer Obianuju Nwankwo, a 16-year-old student of the school, scored 340 in the just-past UTME conducted by the Joint Admissions and Matriculation Board, JAMB, first to be recorded by the school.
Expressing her joy over the result while speaking to AljazirahNigeria yesterday, Nwaoga said it was a rare feat by the school which has worked so hard to instil academic excellence in the students.
“I was overwhelmed when we got the news of the result of one of our students at the recent JAMB examination.
“I was overwhelmed as this is the first time our student will get such a remarkable result. Others, even her colleagues, did well too, but none has gotten up to this mark. So I am very happy, hence all the glory goes to the Almighty God for this great achievement,” Nwaogar said.
She expressed appreciation to the principal, teachers and the school management whom she said worked tirelessly to bring the students up to the current standard.
Speaking on the special student, the educationist lauded her remarkable performance right from her early years in school.
“Jennifer has been an outstanding child since she joined the school in the nursery section.
“Imagine there was a time she had double promotion to a higher class; even then she was on top of the students she met there.
“She has been outstanding on her behaviours, academic and even her moral behaviour.
“We pray she does better in the WAEC which she is writing now. Not that her colleagues are not doing well, only that hers is very outstanding because none of them got below 200; some got even 270, 280, etc. i the same examination; so glory be to God,” she said.
According to Nwaoga, the difference between her school and others is that Hope John International has more qualified, dedicated and passionate teachers, adding that it trains and retrains the teachers to get the best from them and also prioritise their welfare.
Also speaking, principal of the school, Mrs. Ozioma Jane Onuoha said Miss Nwankwo’s JAMB result had brought joy to this school.
Onuoha recalled that Jennifer started in nursery section of the school, and had sin then exhibited outstanding performances both in academy and character.
“You can see how she laid her foundation and actually built on it with her excellent result. We believe that when the WAEC and NECO results are out she will even do better, because she has been a workaholic student since she joined the school from nursery section till now.
On her part, Jennifer expressed joy at the same time over her result.
She, however, insisted that though it may looking, but she worked so hard for it.
