Many Feared Dead As Gunmen Attack Another Benue Community

Barely 2024 hours after suspected herdsmen killed many indigenes and burnt their houses in Otobi community in Akpa district of Otukpo Local Government Area of Benue State on Tuesday evening, several persons are said to have following another deadly attack on Emichi village in the same local government.

AljazirahNigeria gathered that the gunmen stormed the community around 2pm Wednesday, shooting indiscriminately at residents.

It was also learnt that terrified residents fled for safety as no security personnel were on ground to intervene at the time of the attack.

AljazirahNigeria had reported that gunmen suspected to be Fulani herdsmen had Tuesday evening attacked Otobi Community, also in Otukpo, killing scores of inhabitants and displacing many others who abandoned their homes for safety as the invaders stormed the community.

The lawmaker representing Otukpo-Akpa Constituency in the Benue State House of Assembly, Kennedy Angbo raised the alarm over the attack which he said started around 5:30pm on Tuesday.

Angbo, who hails from Akpa, said an unconfirmed number of persons had been killed while hundreds fled the community.

Speaking to newsmen, a resident of Otobi community, Edwin Emma said many persons were feared killed.

Emma appealed for help from the government and security forces to save the lives of the residents.

“We are being attacked by herdsmen at Otobi community, my wife and children are fleeing from the community as I speak, please call for help,” Emma cried.
