Manchester United chief executive, Omar Berrada, remains committed to his bold vision of winning the Premier League by 2028, despite the club enduring its worst top-flight season since 1973/74.

The 20-time English champions finished a disappointing 15th, a staggering 42 points behind title winners Liverpool. Under manager Ruben Amorim, United also fell short in Europe, losing the Europa League final to Tottenham and missing out on continental football entirely for the coming season.

Speaking about his “Project 150” plan — a roadmap unveiled last September to mark the club’s 150th anniversary — Berrada reaffirmed his goal to lead both the men’s and women’s teams to domestic glory by 2028.

While the men’s side face a major rebuild, the women’s team also has a challenging path ahead. They finished third in the Women’s Super League ,WSL, 16 points adrift of champions Chelsea, who also beat them in the FA Cup final. Chelsea have dominated the WSL in recent years, winning six consecutive titles.

However, Berrada, formerly Chief Football Operations Officer at Manchester City — is optimistic that a turnaround is possible within the next three years.

“It’s about establishing a series of targets within a timeframe so we can focus our efforts and energy on that goal”, he told United We Stand fanzine in an interview to be published Wednesday.

With his strategic vision, Berrada hopes to restore United’s place at the pinnacle of English football on both the men’s and women’s fronts  by the club’s historic milestone in 2028.
