Make Imam Kingdom Better Than You Met It – Ortom Charges New Och’Idoma

Benue State governor, Samuel Ortom has challenged the new paramount ruler of Idoma Kingdom, Agaba Idu, Elaigwu Odogbo John V, to consider his ascension to the throne of his fathers as divine and lead with the fear of God.

Speaking during the coronation of the new Och’Idoma which also witnessed the presentation of certificate and staff of office, held at Och’Idoma’s square at Otukpo, headquarters of Idoma kingdom, the governor recalled with pains, the coincidental passage of two notable traditional rulers, the Och’Idoma IV and Tor Tiv IV, expressing optimism that the selection of the two successors who are pastors was for a purpose.

“Your selection as Och’Idoma V by the selection committee undoubtedly brought joy and hope to the people of Idoma Nation and I have no doubt in my heart that your reign would be peaceful.

 “It is my further conviction that the support you are already enjoying from your subjects would be sustained and together you will make Idoma Nation better than you have met it”, Ortom told the new monarch.

The governor, who congratulated the monarch on his ascendance to the throne, prayed that God Almighty who have chosen him, continue to keep him and charged him to lead with the fear of God.

Ortom, on behalf of the government and people of the state, expressed appreciation to all dignitaries who identified with the state, particularly sons and daughters of Idoma Kingdom and prayed God to grant them journey mercy to their various destinations. He thanked the planning committee for organizing a successful coronation.

In his acceptance speech, the new Och’Idoma expressed appreciation to God, Governor Ortom for the support which led to a successful coronation and the people of Idoma Kingdom for overwhelmingly selecting him and promised to be fair, just and above all lead with the fear of God.

“As the newly confirmed, ratified and approved Och’Idoma, I hereby make this solemn declaration before God and man that peace and security shall return to Idoma kingdom”, and prayed God to erase every curse placed upon the land.

The monarch, who said Idoma land under his watch shall witness blessings, progress, development, as well as achievements, also pronounced that by the powers bestowed on him by the people of the area and state government, he had handed over Idoma land to God, assuring that it shall be the beginning of a new dawn.
