“Lookman’s Win is Unsurprising, a Positive Spur for Nigerian Sports” – NSC DG

The Director General of the National Sports Commission (NSC), Honourable Bukola Olopade, has described Ademola Lookman’s coronation as the 2024 CAF Player of the Year as a well-deserved victory that will ignite positive momentum for Nigerian sports.

The DG also Nigerian hailed both the Super Falcons Goalkeeper Chiamaka Nnadozie for winning the goalkeeper of the year award and the Super Falcons for winning the Women’s Team of the year.

Inspite of his tight schedules, Hon. Olopade was live at the Awards in Marrakech, Morocco to support the 27-year old Nigerian player, as he extolled his special talent.

The DG stated that the triumph of both Lookman and Nnadozie serve as an inspiration for Nigerian athletes and aligns with the nation’s renewed vision for sports development under the current administration.

” It was a good night for Nigerian football in general with our male and female players winning individual awards and the women national team also winning the best women team of the year”.

“Lookman’s win cannot be questioned, as he rose above all his peers on the continent,” Olopade stated.

Olopade emphasized that Lookman’s achievement is a reflection of hard work, consistency, and the limitless potential of Nigerian athletes on the global stage.

He stressed that “Nnadozie feat has once again motivated the Commission to pay more attention to the empowerment of more women participation in Sports”.

He added that such wins are vital for boosting morale and inspiring a new generation of talent as Nigeria charts a transformative path in sports administration.
