Lobi Stars Beat Wikki Tourist 3-2

Lobi Stars FC of Makurdi, Sunday, at the Aper Aku Stadium forced Wikki Tourist of Bauchi to a 3-2 defeat.

Imenger junior no. 9 shirt opened scoring for Lobi Stars in the 25 minute of play while the visitors equalized in the 35 minute, and scored another goal few minutes to the half time.

Action resumed in the second half with Lobi Stars who were playing home mounting pressure on the Tourist to equalize through no.5 shirt in the 60 minute, with the winning goal coming few minutes to blow of the final whistle, leaving both officials of Lobi Stars, fans and players smiling home with a relief of escaping relegation.

In an interview with sports writers after the match head coach of Lobi Stars, Baba Ganaru expressed appreciation to God, Governor Samuel Ortom and the Vice Chairman, Dominic Iorfa for the support that has made it possible to remove Lobi Stars out of relegation.

He recalled that 80 per cent of the people he consulted when he was contacted for the job at the position Lobi Stars were, discouraged him from coming, pointing out that accepting to coach Lobi Stars was a risk which he took and felt happy and great over the result.

He described  Dominic Iorfa as a team player that has carried both the players and management members a long, pointing out that Iorfa has within a short period of his administration has cleared debt of allowances of match bonuses and other entitlements of players which has boosted the moral of players, as well as settled other debts that were becoming embarrassing to the club.

Coach Ganaru said the team has continued to improve as players are gradually adopting to his philosophy of play and appealed for continuous support to enable the club do better in the remaining matches.

On his part head coach of Wikki Tourist Abdullahi Adamu lamented that his boys had many scoring opportunities but could not make good use of it.

He however,expressed optimism that the club would have a nice ending, most especially that they were playing their last match at home and commended the referees for good officiating.
