Lobi Stars Beat Nasarawa United 2-1

Lobi Stars FC of Makurdi, Sunday, at the Aper Aku Stadium Makurdi, defeated Nasarawa United FC of Lafia by 2- 1.

Lobi Stars playing home in week 26 of the Nigeria Professional Football League (NPFL), opened scoring in the 65th minute of play in the second half through their number 18 shirt with the second and winning goal being scored in the 85th minute by the Stars number 23 shirt.

The game which was highly competitive saw Nasarawa United mounting more pressure on the Lobi boys despite intimidating home support with the visitors being able to reduce the tally by one goal two minutes to the end of the game through a penalty after an infringement.

Speaking with journalists after the match, assistant coach of Lobi Stars, Tar Akombo, expressed happiness over the victory maintaining that it was exactly what the Makurdi fans and the coaching crew have been yearning for.

He emphasized that despite the victory the coaching crew would not go to sleep rather,they would have a lot of work to do for them to move forward.

According to coach Akombo, the technical crew has watched the game carefully, identifying lapses adding that when next the club would go to the training ground,they would try to fix the gray areas such as working on the boys to improve on scoring abilities and being more aggressive both in the first and second halfs of the game to discourage the style of working more hard in the second half.

The Lobi Stars assistant coach equally expressed satisfaction with the outcome of results of the match maintaining that for Lobi Stars getting the three points was the most important thing that happened to the club and assured fans that the crew will not get tired to ensure that the boys continue to improve for better performance until the club becomes comfortable on the league table.

On his part technical adviser of Nasarawa United FC Bala Makil, discribed the defeat as part of the game, adding that in football you either win or lose.
