LG Elections: KAD-SIECOM Screens 76 Candidates

Date:

Mrs Hajara Mohammed, the Executive Chairman, Kaduna State Independent Electoral Commission, KAD-SIECOM, said it had screened seventy six candidates ahead of the local government election slated for October 19.

Mohammed disclosed this yesterday while briefing newsmen in Kaduna.

The chairman stated that the candidates, who were vying for the Chairmanship positions and registered with the commission were drawn from ten political parties.

She said: “The Commission will equally display the valid and disqualified candidates that participated in the exercise as contained in the electoral guidelines.

“The Commission will fully abide by the guidelines and ensure that elections are held on October, 19 this year.

“I urge the candidates from all the political parties to play the game by abiding by the election guidelines.

”They should also avoid any acts that may disrupt the peace and harmony of the citizens in the state, before, during and after the elections”.

Mohammed, then, urged the electorate to come out massively on the election day to vote for the candidates of their choice, adding that their votes would count.

Earlier, Mr Daniel Paul, the Kagarko Local Government Chairmanship candidate of Labour Party ,LP, expressed satisfaction with the conduct of the screening exercise.

Paul, however, urged the commission to maintain its policy on fairness from the beginning of the process to the end of announcement of the results.
