Let’s Reflect On Lessons Of Eid-el-Kabir – Niger CAN

Date:

FROM SAMSON ALFA, MINNA.

Leadership of the Christian Association of Nigeria, CAN, Niger State chapter, has urged Muslims to use this period of the Eid-el-Kabir to tolerate one another irrespective of religion and tribe.

The State CAN chairman Catholic Bishop of Kontagora, Most Reverend Bulus Yohanna stated this in a Sallah message to Governor Umar Bago yesterday.

“The entire Christendom congratulates Governor Bago, Council of Traditional Rulers, His Royal Highness, Etsu Nupe, all our royal fathers and indeed the entire Muslim brothers and sisters for the celebration of this festive season.”

Bishop Yohanna expressed belief that the Muslim faithful would use this period for sober reflection and ask God for forgiveness, and urged them to pray for continued peace, unity, national cohesion and economic recovery of the state and the country as a whole.

“I urge all Nigerians and indeed Nigerlites in particular, to have hope in God and not give up on the issues bedeviling the country, adding that there is hope that the challenges will soon be over. With the ‘New Niger’ agenda, our dear state will have a better look.”

The cleric praised the governor and his team for their commitment to the development of the state. It is our sincere prayers that God will rescue all those in the kidnappers’ den and bring to an end, the shedding of innocent blood.

“Let us commit ourselves to love our neighbours irrespective of tribe and religion. Let us all be agents of peaceful co-existence and united on all fronts to defeat our common enemies,” he said.
