Lagos Impounds 28 Trucks Over Safety Violations

Date:

Heavy Duty Vehicle Division of the Lagos State Vehicle Inspection Service, VIS, in partnership with the Federal Road Safety Corps, FRSC, has impounded 28 trucks over various safety rules violations.

Confirming the seizures in a statement Wednesday, Deputy Director of Public Affairs at the Lagos State Ministry of Transportation, Mrs Bolanle Ogunlola said the vehicles were impounded due to non-compliance with safety standards during a recent enforcement operation in Lagos.

She said the vehicles had infractions such as broken headlamps, faulty rear lights, worn-out tyres and missing or incomplete wheel nuts.

Other violations include drivers lacking valid licences and failure to present Lagos State Drivers Institute, LASDRI, recertification cards, which are mandatory in Lagos.

She noted that the operation is a routine joint effort aimed at improving road safety across the state.

“Its goal is to ensure that heavy-duty vehicles comply with all safety and regulatory requirements,” she said.
