Kwara State House of Assembly has urged the state government to partner the National Youth Service Corps, NYSC, to increase the number of medical graduates deployed to the state, particularly in rural areas.

The call followed a motion by Mr Bello Oniboki (APC/Afon) and seconded by Mr Abolarin Gabriel (APC/Ekiti) at yesterday’s plenary, highlighting the shortage of medical personnel in rural areas.

Oniboki emphasised that partnering NYSC would complement the existing medical staff and provide quality healthcare services to rural communities that lack access to physicians.

Speaker Yakubu Danladi-Salihu urged Governor AbdulRahman AbdulRasaq to direct the ministry of health to develop incentives for corps members to work in rural areas. (NAN)
