Kogi Govt Warns Against Illegal Occupation Of Houses

Date:

Kogi State government has issued a stern warning to individuals illegally occupying National Housing Buildings in Phases I, II and III, located at Crusher, Lokoja.

A statement, according to the Commissioner for Housing and Urban Development, Taiye Abanika, yesterday, called on the illegal occupants  to vacate with immediate effect.

Abanika noted that the illegal occupation has compromised the National Housing Programme, NHP, designed to provide affordable housing for Nigerians. Over 85 percent of the houses in the estate are currently being occupied illegally, with some individuals even selling the houses to unsuspecting buyers.

Government has provided a detailed breakdown of the housing units affected, including:

Phase I: 76 units, comprising four one-bedroom semi-detached bungalows, 48 two-bedroom semi-detached bungalows and 24 three-bedroom semi-detached bungalows.

Phase II: 92 units, comprising 20 one-bedroom semi-detached bungalows, 28 two-bedroom semi-detached bungalows, and 44 three-bedroom semi-detached bungalows.

Phase III: 92 units, comprising 16 one-bedroom semi-detached bungalows, 28 two-bedroom semi-detached bungalows, and 48 three-bedroom semi-detached bungalows.

Government has urged the illegal occupants to vacate the premises immediately, to enable the rightful allottees who have duly paid for the units to take possession of their homes. This urgent call to action aims to safeguard the interest of legitimate homeowners and maintain the integrity of the National Housing Programme.

Kogi State government has assured that it will take the necessary steps to restore order and ensure that the National Housing Programme is implemented as intended.
